Local Campaigns

The Bedfordshire Road Safety Partnership supports targeted road safety campaigns throughout the year.

Campaign activity is informed by local collision data, national priorities, and emerging risk trends. Campaigns aim to increase awareness, reach out to at risk groups, and encourage safer road user behaviour.

Why We Run Campaigns

Campaigns form part of a wider, evidence-led approach to improving road safety outcomes.

Local campaigns are designed to:

  • Highlight specific road safety risks

  • Reinforce national road safety messaging

  • Support enforcement and education activity

  • Respond to seasonal or emerging issues

Seatbelt Competition - (April - May)

This campaign, aimed at local schools, gave students the opportunity to use artistic expression to learn about responsible behaviour and in-car safety.

The response to this campaign was positive, with 99 entries across the county.

World Cup 2026 - Drink Driving (June - July)

Partners reached out to pubs across Bedfordshire, handing out posters to be displayed during live games.

The campaign reinforced the need to plan journeys home before games, especially with late kick offs. As well as planning safe alternatives if fans have driven to the pub, but started drinking.

Campaign Videos

Some campaigns include short video content to support public awareness and engagement.

Partnership videos are designed to compliment wider activity and reinforce key road safety messages

Leighton Buzzard - Project EDWARD

Project EDWARD (Every Day Without A Road Death) visited Leighton Buzzard in 2022, discussing the technological advancements in road safety.

If You Could Change

The devastating consequences road collisions have on the families of victims are shown in a thought-provoking short film.

Important Information

Campaign messaging is developed in collaboration with partners and wider organisations, and may align with national road safety initiatives.

Campaign materials are intended to support awareness and do not replace official guidance or enforcement activity.
