Road Safety Hub
This hub brings together local initiatives and national information to help people in Bedfordshire stay safe on our roads.
Our Strategy
We are committed to delivering and implementing a Safe System approach to road safety.
Our Vision is to reduce the number of collisions on our roads.
We Aim to prevent road users from being killed or seriously injured by going beyond education, enforcement, and engineering.
Our Objective is to reduce year on year the numbers of people killed & seriously injured on Bedfordshire roads.
Road Users
Partners work with multiple road user groups, targeting those most at risk to initiate positive behavioural change.
This is further supported by our education services and community events.
-
Partners support Be Bright Be Seen (THINK!) and offer high-visibility equipment to students in schools, and residents at community events.
We educate pedestrians on the danger of distractions, emphasising their lack of protection compared to other road users.
-
Partners attend local cycling events, advising residents on the importance of high-visibility, protective equipment.
ModeShift Stars is supported in schools across Bedfordshire. This helps students build confidence in their cycling ability.
-
The Partnership supports Biker Down and Project Apex in Bedfordshire, with the aim to reduce the amount of motorcyclist killed or seriously injured.
Think Bike signage has been put up throughout the county at collision hotspots.
-
The Partnership reaches out to young drivers by attending local colleges, universities.
The MORE Course is an opportunity for young drivers to gain key skills and knowledge that enables safer driving habits.
We support national campaigns that raise awareness of the roads biggest risk factors - seatbelts, drink/drugs, mobile phones, and speeding.
Local Campaigns
The Partnership establishes a data-led approach to our own campaigns, as well bringing wider campaigns to Bedfordshire.
Current Campaign Topics:
The dangers of drink and drug driving to all drivers.
Raising awareness of motorcyclists as vulnerable road users.
Educating young drivers on what makes them an at risk group.
National Support
